Asphalt is mostly made up of stone and sand that are brought together with a liquid that glues the stone together. The type of stone that is used may also be different from place to place. This is because, in the production of asphalt, the stone that is used is whatever type of stone that is found, in other words, it doesn’t matter.

When asphalt is used to create roads, it is made in layers. In the bottom layers of a road, you will find bigger pieces of stone. As you make your way up to the top the stone will get smaller. The reason for this is that the asphalt is less permeable. By putting the smaller stone pieces at the top there is less of a chance that water or cracks will make it through.

All in all, asphalt is an important material in the creation of roadways. It is done with ease with the use of various stones which come together to give us safe passage.
