Demolition derbies are relatively straightforward. The goal is to be the last car surviving. That is simple enough, right? Well, there is a lot of strategy needed to get to that point. Ryan Nichols is a demolition driver and he explains some of this strategy. First, it is always better to hit other cars with the back of your own car. This is to avoid damaging the radiator or engine in the front. Second, you want to aim for the corners of each car. If you can take out a tire or two, that is enough to disable most cars and eliminate them. This strategy sometimes means driving around the edges of the field until an opportunity arises to strike.
